Frank Hitchcock was born in 1860 and died in 1931. He was a member of the Council Bluffs Fire Department from 1881 to October 1, 192O. He held the position of chief in the department from May 1, 1914 to October 1, 192O. The following information was taken from the Biographical History of Pottawattamie County Iowa, 1891: F. G. Hitchcock, a member of Hose House Fire Department No. 3, Council Bluffs, was previously a member of the volunteer department from 1879 to 1888. He was born in 186O, in New York, a son of G.C. and Mary Hitchcock, natives of New York state, and of English and Puritan descent. Mr. Hitchcock was reared in his native state until 1876, when he came to Pottawattamie County. He was employed in the railroad service for about four years and in 1888 was elected as fireman in Hose House No. 3. Politically, he affiliates with the Republican Party. He was married in 1883 to Miss Eva Cochran, a native of this county, and they have two children, Cora and Richard.
