  Bio George T. Holder III, was born Sept. 7, 1942, and passed away Aug. 26, 2013. He was an active member of the Chariton Volunteer Fire Department from March 22, 1962, to November 1989. During that time he held various positions, including Chief, Assistant Chief, Captain, Secretary, and Trustee. He was founder and first president of the South Central Iowa Fireman's Mutual Aid Association (SCIFMA). He served as President of the Iowa Firefighters Association from 1974 to 1975. He was Secretary of the Joint Council of Iowa Fire Service Organizations from 1976 to 1981.
