Floyd Hurtt was born in 1921 and died in 1976. He was a volunteer fireman in Eldora and Albion for 30 years. During that time he helped organize the Marshall County Firemen's Association, was a charter member and served as president. He was elected fourth vice president of the Iowa Firemen's Association in 1967 and in 1972 served as president of the association. His service was also recognized with the Governor's Award and he received a certificate of outstanding service from President Gerald Ford. Floyd served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He worked for the Iowa Liquor Commission for 18 years. He was a member of the Hillside Church of Christ and past commander of the American Legion. He was survived by his wife, Helen; four daughters, Barbara, Nancy, Dixie, and Kay; eight grandchildren; his mother; six brothers, and two sisters.
